The Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens)
Growing to 300 feet, and living up to 2000 years, these are the tallest tree in the world and one of the longest living. With a fossil record of 100 million years, they were once the food of dinosaurs. Cosmopolitan then, the last stronghold of the coast redwood is now in northern California. It knows about change and persistence. Anyone who has ever entered a grove of redwoods has been in one of God's cathedrals.
